Was It Really Worth It, Seconds?
A loose re-telling of something stupid/funny that happened before the Denver show
I had just had a lovely IHop breakfast with Amy and Adam when it was decided that we’d walk over to a nearby Safeway to grab coffee at a Starbucks inside.
Amy ordered her and Adam's drinks and after a few minutes, the overly excited and confident young barista woman behind the counter handed Amy their drinks and started talking up how great cinnamon was in coffee.
It turned out that the barista had added cinnamon to both drinks without asking first. She even told Amy, “I hope you aren’t allergic to cinnamon”.
While this was going on, Adam had walked over to the nearby pharmacy area and grabbed a couple of COVID home tests. He handed me the second test, just in case. I was a tad bit concerned just because I tend to be whenever I’m traveling.
We started talking about how weird it was that the barista was bent on the cinnamon as we headed for the exit. We walked across the parking lot towards our hotel across the street when Amy and Adam stopped to sip their coffee.
Neither one of them were at all impressed by the addition of cinnamon to their drinks.
Then Adam looked at me and said, “You know what’s funny? You just stole that COVID test”. I started to laugh but then it hit me….I fucking DID just walk out of the store with the test without paying for it. I nervously looked back at Safeway and felt thankful that store security hadn’t followed us out.
I don’t believe that I’ve ever unintentionally walked out of a store with a product in my hand without paying for it. I stole plenty of stuff from supermarkets when I was a kid but never as an adult and never by accident.
